Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to Room 15’s blog for 2011.
Here you’ll find regular updates about the exciting things we’re getting up to in Room 15 this year. Please do visit regularly or subscribe to this blog to be notified of new posts.
I hope you have all had a wonderful summer break and are as excited as I am about the start of the new school year. I’m really looking forward to getting to know your children and helping them progress on their learning journey.
Here is a little background information to introduce myself. I was born and raised in the Hutt Valley. After several years travelling after university, which included 18 months teaching English in South Korea and a few years in the UK, I returned to Wellington with the intention of studying to be a teacher. During my teacher training last year I had the great fortune to be placed at Muritai School. I quickly came to the realisation that this is a wonderful school for both teachers and learners. In November last year I had the even greater fortune to be offered a position in the year 5 and 6 syndicate. Needless to say I leapt at the opportunity to join such a strong professional teaching team. I am greatly looking forward to my first year teaching under the guidance of the wonderful Lisa Allen who, as my mentor teacher, keeps a close eye on me. Many of you will know that Room 15 is also extremely lucky to have Sue Steele taking the class every Wednesday (I take the class the rest of the week).
I look forward to meeting many of you tomorrow evening at our first parent/ teacher interviews. If you cannot make it tomorrow please don’t hesitate to email, phone or pop in to see me with any questions you may have or issues you would like to raise.
My email address is
Regards,
Melissa Coton
